Blog 9 – Endangered Animals

Animals are endangered because some have been hunted.

Like rhinos and elephants for their horns and tusks. There are only 5000 mountain gorillas left. Mountain gorillas have diseases by humans. And they also have feelings like humans do.

Habitat loss, climate change, diseases and hunting are why animals are becoming extinct. Dodos have become extinct. You can still see their bones in the museums but no-one knows what a dodo looks like in real life.

Sadly because more and more animals are getting less numbers like the mountain gorilla, red squirrels, giant otter, giant panda and sea turtles.

Take action in picking up plastic, using your own cutlery and bags- not plastic ones and not using single-use plastic.

What do you think you should do to take action?

Thank you Cleo – you’re so informative.

Last night the UK tv news included a report on how the penguins in Africa face extinction by 2035. They eat anchovies and sardines but commercial fishing has reduced this source of food for the penguins so there is a movement to label these penguins an endangered species . Over the past 30 years their numbers have declined by 73%
It is amazing to see them waddling on sand and not on snow !
