Blog 15 – Carbon footprints

I know that everyone’s carbon footprints are getting bigger because for example

  1. using a fridge
  2. transport
  3. lights
  4. heating
  5. electricity
  6. freight- deliver something by plane, train or ship inside a crate

so what I mean is you should not use too much power or electricity or too much cars by yourself. But buses are good or you could share a car with someone else.

You should not keep the lights on when you are not at home.

You should not use heating if the country you are living in is cold and you are not at home, you should use something in the walls to warm your house up. You can see what that looks like:

A diagram from http://www.alamy.com of a house with wall and roof insulation

Canva AI image created by me called “The insulation house with lights and double glazing”

Double glazing is so the heat doesn’t run all out of your house, it stops the heat from going out of the house and keeps all of your heat in. In cold countries it is good.

I want to know how you think about carbon prints and put comments about that please!

Cleo 🙂

This is great – thank you for making me think about my energy usage! I am going to heat my house with the fire places as much as I can! I am curious about air conditioning, is that the same as heating for using carbon? Should I be limiting my air conditioning use too? Thank you Tanya

This is really good to know Cleo! I wasn’t sure how to figure out what my carbon footprint is, maybe I should try a scooter through the park instead of taking a car to work!

    Hello Cleo

    Great to see your comments.

I have seen more large buildings use lighting only where there is movement detected , for example in corridors. Where I live, the basement garage has lighting on constantly which isn’t good as I’m sure you will agree! Sensor lighting instead is the way to go! Yay!
